Lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes get ready! You guys are about to be covered in the special salad dressing that everybody wants!
“Do you have THAT dressing? Sharon’s dressing?” Recently, this question has been repeatedly asked in many households around the GTA. I have to be honest and admit that I can’t take the credit. My name is Sharon, to explain the “Sharon’s dressing”, but the special salad dressing that everybody wants is not mine. My sister-in-law created it and the moment I took my first savory and sweet bite of a piece of lettuce that was perfectly dressed in it, I was hooked and asked for the recipe.
Luckily for me, this recipe is ridiculously easy. It’s just a few simple ingredients that will last up to a week in the refrigerator. How could I not share it here? After all, as I declared before, I’m no cook, but I know what I know – like this and this.
Feel free to pour this salad dressing that everybody wants on any type of lettuce. Spinach, field greens, and my favourite, romaine. Add in loads of vegetables! I always say the more the merrier. And maybe even some chicken or tofu, too.
Salad Dressing Recipe
- 1 tablespoon of honey mustard
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- A crushed garlic clove
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of white balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
I would first crush the garlic clove and let it sit in a well-ventilated area for about 10 minutes. My friend and Registered Dietitian @shaunalin always recommend doing that in order to create Allicin, which is a compound of garlic that has cancer-fighting properties and protects against heart disease. I then would add the sugar, salt, honey mustard, and mix well. Pour in the olive oil and white balsamic vinegar and mix again. Pour into a salad dressing container and store it in the refrigerator for at least a week, if it lasts that long. You may find that it solidifies in the fridge. If this is the case, take it out at least 20 minutes before serving to thaw out.
